To enforce Forest Law and conserve the remaining forests, the Project Management Unit (PMU) coordinated forest patrols in the Project site from April to June 2020. The Field Implementation Unit (FIU) members have been collaborating with the local FA officers to patrol forests in the Project site. In total, 30 patrols were conducted from April to June 2020. As a result, 05 illegally cleared land parcels were taken back by FIU, while 07 chainsaws, 01 electric fishing stick and 01 warning contract were confiscated while warnings were issued at different places across the project area in April. In May, 02 chainsaws and 2.6 m3 of sawn wood were seized. In June, the law enforcement team impounded 03 chainsaws and 01 illegal land parcel in Prey Khum Sochet CF.

Regarding community forestry patrol teams, the 14 Community Forests (CFs) have their own patrolling teams, and those teams have regularly conducted forest-patrolling activities inside their designated CF areas. In the 2nd quarter of 2020, CF patrolling teams conducted 87 patrols, with 445 members 17 of whom were women. 06 handed tractors and 02 ox-carts were confiscated, along with one chainsaw and 10 logs. The CF patrol teams also issued 07 warning letters to 07 different families – cautioning them not to clear and log any forestland and timber. Chainsaws and tractors impounded were transferred to the Tumring FA triage.
